What happens when you take 29 children ages 5 to 14 into the mountains with no television, radio, MP3 players, cell phones and other electronic entertainment for five days? They experience God!
Camp 2008 was based around Isaiah 2:3; “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” Our young people experienced lessons daily as Jesus would have taught his disciples, thru the parables.
A typical day at camp started with breakfast about 8:00 am, followed by devotions and then time spent in the word. Each afternoon was filled with a quiet hour and then a variety of activities such as hikes, a Faith Harvest version of “Fear Factor” and some chicken volleyball.
The evenings brought us back together in the Word. A highlight of the week is a wagon trip out into the forest to watch the stars and listen for the voice of God. Our last night brought everything we learned together as the children performed skits on the various parables Jesus taught and a campfire where songs, s’mores and fellowship was shared.
Three children accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. And over a dozen of our young people rededicated their lives to the Lord. It was a week filled with the presence of the Lord. Each child and leader experienced Jesus.
Camp 2009 will begin May 31, 2009 and end June 4, 2009. The cost of camp is $120.00 per person. If you are interested in sending your child to camp, please e-mail Faith Harvest Church.
